Frequently Asked Questions

Our B3460dnf is the hardest-worked machine in the office — how long will one cartridge last?

One 331-9805 cartridge is rated at up to 8,500 pages, and on a machine that never seems to rest that can be a matter of weeks rather than months. The practical answer is to watch the page counter: whatever the machine prints in a typical month, divide 8,500 by it, and you have your change interval — and the signal for when to have the next cartridge ready.

What does toner work out at per page on this machine?

Roughly 1.07 cents per page. At $91.20 per cartridge and an 8,500-page rating, that figure holds steady regardless of how hard the B3460dnf is pushed. On the busiest machines the totals simply arrive faster, which is exactly why the per-page number — not the cartridge price — belongs in the office budget.

Is this listing for one cartridge or a pack?

One cartridge: a single compatible black 331-9805, rated at up to 8,500 pages, at $91.20. Multi-packs of the same cartridge are listed separately on our site for offices that prefer to stock up, but everything on this page — the price, the rating, the cover — refers to the single cartridge.

Does the B3460dnf take the same cartridge as the rest of its family?

Yes. The 331-9805 is the one black cartridge for Dell's B2360, B3460 and B3465 mono families, the B3460dnf included. If your office also runs a B2360d or a B3465dn, a single spare on the shelf covers them all — confirm by the part number on the cartridge label rather than by the machine badge.

How should spares be kept near a busy machine?

Sealed in their packaging, flat, somewhere cool and dry — a supply cupboard rather than on top of the warm machine itself. A spare stored that way is ready the moment the fitted cartridge gives out, and on a machine this busy that moment rarely announces itself politely in advance.

What if the cartridge arrives faulty?

It comes back to us. Every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, and this compatible 331-9805 is no exception. Our support team works Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, orders are sent from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA or CA, and the return steps are laid out on our shipping & returns page.
