Frequently Asked Questions

What does half a cent per page mean for an accounts-payable desk?

Do the multiplication on your own volume. This 330-2650 (PK941X) is rated at 18,000 pages for $90.57, which works out to roughly 0.50 cents per page. A department printing 2,000 pages a month — checks, stubs, remittances and reports together — is looking at around $10 a month in toner for output that includes bank-readable checks. Per-page, MICR toner at maximum yield undercuts most ordinary document printing, which is the reverse of the usual check-printing economics.

Why do checks need magnetic toner in the first place?

The routing and account numbers at the foot of a check are MICR characters — magnetic ink character recognition. Bank reader-sorters sense the magnetic signal in the printed line rather than reading it as an image, and toner without magnetic content gives them nothing to sense. Print checks with a standard cartridge and they look right but read as blank. This cartridge's formulation carries that signal, which is the entire functional difference between MICR toner and the standard cartridge for the same machine.

Who is a maximum-yield cartridge wrong for?

Honestly? The low-volume office. If your Laser 2330d, 2330dn or 2350d prints a handful of checks a month, an 18,000-page cartridge will live in the machine for years, toner ages, and you will have prepaid capacity you may never use. Maximum yield pays when throughput is steady — a bookkeeping service, a property manager cutting vendor checks weekly, a payroll-heavy small business. Match the cartridge to the volume, not to the headline price per page.

How do we validate this cartridge before trusting it with a vendor run?

Print a short test batch — a few low-value checks — and run them through your bank's usual deposit or reader channel before any live run. Acceptance of the test batch confirms the full chain: software font, line placement, check stock and this cartridge's magnetic signal. Never judge by appearance; a visually perfect MICR line can still be magnetically absent, and appearance is all a standard cartridge ever gives you.

Is this a genuine Dell cartridge?

It is a compatible cartridge, built by a third-party manufacturer to the same specification as Dell part number 330-2650 (PK941X), for the Laser 2330d, 2330dn and 2350d. The MICR function, the 18,000-page maximum-yield rating and the $90.57 price are exactly as listed — what differs from the original is who manufactured it.

What protection comes with a cartridge bought for the long haul?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, as set out on our shipping and returns page. Shipping is from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California, whichever serves you fastest, and support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST. Our practical suggestion with any cartridge of this size: write the install date on the box and keep it. Two years from now, that date is the first thing any warranty question will turn on.
