Frequently Asked Questions

What yellow cartridge fits the M855xh?

The Color LaserJet M855xh takes the CF312A yellow — this cartridge, the yellow of the HP 826A series. The supplies screen lists it by that code, and the yellow cartridge in the machine is labeled CF312A, so the supply-room order and the printer are speaking the same language.

Which everyday documents are secretly using yellow?

Highlighted forms, warm-gray letterheads, scanned documents with aged-paper tones, spreadsheet printouts with shaded rows, and nearly every screenshot and web page the floor prints. Yellow is the tint underneath office life — rarely the subject of a page, present on most of them. That is why its level slides steadily on a shared machine even in weeks when 'nobody printed anything yellow.'

Prints across the department have slowly turned cold — what fades first?

Usually yellow, and it fades first precisely because the change is gradual. Yellow supplies warmth; lose it and photographs chill, golds go green-brown and office documents take on a faint blue-gray cast that people blame on the paper or the lighting. When a whole department's output cools over a few weeks, read the yellow percentage before adjusting anything.

How much warning do we get before yellow is empty?

The printer reports low first and empty later, and on an xh the distance between those two messages can still be thousands of pages — or one heavy week, depending on the floor's workload. The practical rule for a shared high-capacity machine: order at low, swap when color quality matters or at empty, whichever arrives first.

How is the yellow swapped on the xh?

Open the front door, pull the yellow cartridge straight out, and fit the new CF312A — unpacked, seal and guards removed — until it clicks into place. Close the door, let the printer calibrate, and the warmth returns to the next job off the machine. The whole change takes about two minutes and needs no tools and no technician.

What backing does this cartridge have?

A 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, as set out in our shipping and returns policy. Orders ship from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This M855xh Yellow Cartridge

Yellow is the first color a busy department loses and the last one anyone suspects. On an M855xh serving dozens of people, its quiet decline cools every document the floor produces — and because it happens gradually, it can run for weeks before someone prints an old page beside a new one and sees it.

This compatible CF312A is $151.71 and carries the rated 31,500-page yield. A monthly supplies check and this cartridge on the shelf are all it takes to keep the department's output looking warm and normal.
