Frequently Asked Questions

What yellow does the M855x+ take?

The Color LaserJet M855x+ takes the CF312A yellow — this cartridge, the yellow supply of the HP 826A series. Its code is the one shown on the supplies screen for the yellow position and printed on the yellow cartridge in the machine, so ordering by CF312A is ordering by the printer's own name for it.

What does yellow actually build in a chart?

More than the color yellow itself. Every green bar is yellow plus cyan, every orange column is yellow plus magenta, and golds, warm backgrounds and highlighted callouts are yellow-led. In chart work yellow is a structural color — when it fades, whole families of chart colors shift at once, which is why a tired yellow makes a familiar report look subtly 'wrong' before anyone can say why.

Our warm chart backgrounds are printing muddy and cold — what is fading?

Yellow. A warm background depends on yellow to stay warm; as the cartridge empties, the warmth drains out and backgrounds go muddy gray-brown while the blues in the same chart stay strong. That one-sided cooling — warm tones dead, cool tones fine — is yellow's fingerprint. Check its level on the supplies page and expect this cartridge to be the fix.

Can I swap just the yellow between tray loads?

Yes, and it takes about two minutes. The cartridges are independent units: open the door, pull the yellow, seat the new CF312A until it clicks, close the door. The trays, the queued jobs and the other supplies are untouched, so the swap fits between two jobs without rearranging the machine's day.

How much life should we plan on from the yellow?

The rating is 31,500 pages at standard coverage. Signage, charts and warm-background documents run hotter than standard, so plan on the printer's percentage rather than the calendar — and on an x+ running mixed trays, a quick weekly supplies check is the habit that keeps every color predictable, yellow included.

What cover does this cartridge come with?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping and returns policy. Stock ships from our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses, and support hours run Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This M855x+ Yellow Cartridge

Yellow is the warmth supply. On an x+ printing charts, signage and warm-toned documents from several trays, it underpins greens, oranges and golds across all of them — and its slow fade is the hardest to spot because each individual page still looks plausible.

At $151.71, this compatible CF312A delivers the rated 31,500-page yield for the x+. Replace it when the warmth starts leaving the work, and every tray's output warms back up with it.
