    Frequently Asked Questions

Why do the oranges on our 11×17 posters keep coming out red?

Because orange is a two-toner recipe — magenta plus yellow — and one of the ingredients is running short. Magenta alone prints red; it only warms into orange once yellow joins it. As the 106R03742 fades, the magenta half of every orange keeps arriving at full strength while the yellow half thins, so poster oranges, amber gradients and autumn tones all slide toward plain red. On an A3 machine like the Versalink C7025, big saturated artwork exposes the shortage far sooner than office text ever would.

Our caution-yellow safety signs print pale and greyish — same underlying problem?

Yes, and it is the most honest test the cartridge can face. A solid block of yellow has nowhere to hide: there is no partner toner to prop it up, so a weakening supply shows itself immediately as a washed, slightly dirty fill with streaks at the edges. Text pages can look perfect for weeks after the safety signs start failing, because text barely touches this cartridge. If the solid yellows in your signage look tired, believe them — the supply behind them is nearly spent.

How many A3 posters is a 9,800-page rating realistically worth?

Far fewer than the headline number suggests. The rating assumes a letter page carrying light, standard coverage — a memo with a small chart. A full-bleed 11×17 poster has roughly double the printable area of a letter sheet, and a design built on warm backgrounds and big color fields can cover most of it. A single such poster can consume yellow at the rate of a dozen or more standard pages, so a poster-heavy shop should think of this cartridge in hundreds of posters, not thousands of pages.

Food photos on our menus have gone cold and the lemons look grey — is yellow behind that too?

It is. Warmth in a printed photograph is mostly yellow's contribution: lemons, cheese, bread crusts, wood tones and skin under warm light all depend on it. When the supply fades, that warmth drains away and food photography turns cold and slightly metallic — appetizing becomes institutional. Because the change creeps in over weeks, staff often blame the camera or the paper. A fresh 106R03742 is the usual cure, and a menu reprint is the quickest way to confirm it.

The panel says yellow is low a week before our big print run — swap now or squeeze the old cartridge first?

Swap before the run. A long job is exactly where a fading cartridge does its damage: the first posters come off rich, the last ones come off red-shifted, and the batch no longer matches itself. Fitting the fresh cartridge ahead of the run keeps every sheet consistent, and the partly-used unit you removed is not wasted — kept in its box, it serves as a short-term emergency spare that can still finish ordinary office pages if the main supply ever runs dry mid-week.

What do the warranty and returns actually promise, in plain terms?

A year of both. The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it proves wrong for your machine — the terms are spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and weekday support runs Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if anything needs a human.

About This Xerox 106R03742 Yellow Toner Cartridge for the VersaLink C7025

On the family's A3 workhorse, yellow does the heavy decorative lifting: this is one compatible cartridge, part number 106R03742, priced at $95.14 and rated for up to 9,800 pages at standard coverage, around 0.97 cents per page. It is the toner standing behind saturated poster oranges, legible caution signage and food photography that still looks edible. The C7025 shares this exact supply with the Versalink C7020 below it and the Versalink C7030 above it, so one stocked spare covers posters from any machine on the floor.
