Frequently Asked Questions

The title says "Cartridges" — how many are actually in the box?

One. The plural wording is the product-line name, not a count: this listing sells a single 106R01147 black cartridge for $55.11, sealed and ready to fit. Multi-cartridge versions of this black exist, but they live on their own separate listings — nothing here is a bundle, and nothing has been split out of one.

Is one cartridge the sensible buy, or should you always stock up?

One is sensible when the printer's pace is modest or unpredictable — a home office, a branch machine, a printer that sits idle some weeks. A single 106R01147 covers a rated 10,000 pages, which for light use can mean many months; buying deep stock for a machine that barely prints ties up money in toner you may not reach for a long time.

Do the DP and DT versions of the printer take a different black?

No — the suffix changes the printer's paper handling and finishing options, not its toner. The same 106R01147 serves the Phaser 6350, the Phaser 6350DP and the Phaser 6350DT, so one spare on the shelf covers whichever variant your office runs.

Black pages are coming out grey and washed. Is the cartridge finished?

That is the classic signature of a black cartridge at the end of its fill. A gentle rock of the cartridge can coax a few more even pages out of the remaining toner, but treat that as borrowed time — once output fades like this, the 106R01147 is effectively done and a fresh one restores full density.

How should a spare be stored so it prints well when its turn comes?

Sealed, flat, and indoors — out of direct sunlight, away from radiators and damp store rooms. Toner is a dry powder and keeps patiently in its sealed bag; problems start when packaging is opened early or the cartridge lives somewhere hot. Stored that way, a spare bought today is ready whenever the installed one fades.

What do the warranty and returns look like on this single?

A one-year warranty plus free returns for a full year, spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Stock ships from IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, help is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST, and the rest of the selection is gathered on the Xerox toner page.
