Frequently Asked Questions

What does the second cartridge in this two-pack actually save?

Two singles bought separately would cost $82.70; this pair is $64.20, so you keep $18.50 and the per-cartridge price falls from $41.35 to $32.10. Just as useful is what the spare does for you day to day: when the printer stops mid-job, the replacement is already on the shelf instead of in a delivery van.

How many pages does the two-pack cover in total?

Each MLT-D205E is rated at 10,000 pages, so the pair carries 20,000 rated pages between them. At that volume the toner cost works out to roughly 0.32 cents per page — the pack discount compounds with the cartridge's already low per-page figure.

Which printers take these cartridges?

The ML-3712DW, the ML-3712ND and the SCX-5639FR all run on this supply. A two-pack suits a single busy machine or a small mixed fleet, since every model on the list draws from the same cartridge.

Does a spare cartridge go bad sitting on the shelf?

Kept sealed in its packaging, away from heat and direct light, a toner cartridge stores comfortably for a long stretch. The practical limit to plan around is the warranty: cover runs for one year from purchase, so a two-pack that your printer will finish well inside that window is the sensible size.

Do these printers need a drum as well?

Yes, the toner works alongside a separate MLT-R205 imaging unit that is replaced on its own cycle. Light or streaky output with toner still remaining is the classic sign the drum, not the cartridge, needs attention.

What cover do the two cartridges carry?

Both are protected by a one-year warranty, and returns stay free for the first year if either cartridge misbehaves. You will find the full wording on our shipping and returns page; questions are answered Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
