Frequently Asked Questions
Our brand colors drift partway through long print runs — does replacing all three colors together help?
It does, and it is the main reason this set exists. When cyan, magenta and yellow are at very different fill levels, mixed colors shift subtly as the emptiest cartridge fades — a logo that starts the run crisp can end it slightly off-shade. Starting a long or color-critical job with three fresh cartridges at matched levels keeps the balance stable from the first page to the last. For everyday office printing the drift is barely noticeable, but for client-facing materials, marketing pieces and anything with a defined brand palette, a matched set is cheap insurance at $293.32 for all three colors.
Exactly what arrives in the box?
Three cartridges: one cyan, one magenta and one yellow, each rated at 34,000 pages — 102,000 color pages across the set. Black is not part of this set. The SP C840 platform runs a separate black cartridge rated at 43,000 pages, and it is sold on its own listing. If your black gauge is also low, order it alongside; this set covers the color side only.
Does this color set match my machine?
This compatible 3-color set is made for Ricoh SP C840. Confirm the cartridge code 821258 and your model name before ordering, and note that the three color cartridges each occupy their own slot — they are keyed by color and cannot be swapped between slots. Machines outside the SP C840 family use different cartridges, even when the model names look similar.
How does the set price break down per cartridge?
The set is $293.32 for the three colors, which is about $97.77 per cartridge, with each one carrying the full 34,000-page rating. We will not dress that up with a savings claim: whether the set beats buying the colors one at a time depends on the single-cartridge prices on the day you order, and those change. What the set guarantees is matched freshness across all three colors in one shipment — no second order, no waiting on a back-ordered single color while a deadline job sits half-printed.
We print in bursts — how do we store a set we will not fully use right away?
Install what you need and keep the rest sealed. Toner is a dry powder, so an unopened cartridge stored flat in a cool, dry place keeps its full yield for a long shelf life — there is no ink to clog or dry out. Label the purchase date on the boxes and rotate oldest-first. When a stored cartridge finally goes in, rock it gently before installation to loosen any settled toner, and expect the first few pages to run slightly light while the supply evens out.
If one color in the set turns out defective, do I return all three?
No. Each cartridge in the set is covered individually by our 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, so a single faulty color is replaced or returned on its own — the two good cartridges stay in your machine and your printing keeps moving. The details live on our shipping & returns page, and our team is reachable Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if anything in the set misbehaves.
