Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of printing is a 34,000-page magenta cartridge really for?

Volume. The SP C840 is a workgroup color printer built for steady, heavy use, and this magenta is sized to match — rated for up to 34,000 pages. A print room or busy department that pushes thousands of color pages a month gets months of service per cartridge; a quiet office will find the cartridge outlasts its own patience, which is harmless but worth knowing before you buy.

How does the cost per page compare with smaller cartridges?

At $110.10 for up to 34,000 pages, magenta works out to roughly 0.32 cents per page — well below what smaller, lower-yield color cartridges typically cost per page on comparable machines. High-yield cartridges almost always win the per-page math; you just pay more of the total up front on the day you buy.

When magenta runs low on this machine, what do we see first?

Reds lose their punch and drift orange-brown, and warm tones in photos go flat before text pages show anything wrong — graphics are the early warning. Because the yield is so large, the decline is gradual: if a long print job ends looking different from how it started, an aging magenta is the first thing to suspect.

Is this the right cartridge for our SP C840?

This magenta is made for the Ricoh SP C840. Each color is an individual cartridge on this model; this listing is the magenta only, and black for the same printer is sold separately. Match the color the machine is requesting and the swap takes a minute.

What warranty covers a cartridge that will be in the machine for months?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns cover this cartridge, which suits a high-yield unit that may sit in service for a long stretch. The full terms are on our shipping & returns page, and a single faulty color never means returning anything else.

How should a spare be kept in a busy print room?

Sealed in its box, stored flat in a cool, dry cupboard — not on top of the printer where heat rises. Date the box when it arrives and use oldest stock first; that simple rotation keeps every spare inside its best condition.
