Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a 30,000-page cartridge actually last on an MP 3500?

Longer than most departments plan for. The MP 3500 is a shared workgroup machine, and at a typical 3,000 pages a month this cartridge runs about ten months before it needs changing. A lighter office at 1,500 pages a month can stretch it close to twenty months, while a heavy department pushing 5,000 pages a month still gets around six months from one unit. At $45.76, the rated yield works out to roughly 0.15¢ per page — the reason a big departmental copier stays cheap to feed.

Why is the cost per page so much lower than on smaller Ricoh machines?

It comes down to how much toner a departmental cartridge holds. This unit is rated for 30,000 pages, so the $45.76 purchase price is spread across far more output than a small desktop cartridge delivers — roughly 0.15¢ per page instead of the several-times-higher figures small machines run at. If your MP 3500 is doing real departmental volume, this high-yield format is where the running-cost advantage of the machine itself shows up.

Which printers does this cartridge work in?

This cartridge is built for Ricoh Aficio MP 3500. It is a single black cartridge — the MP 3500 is a black-and-white machine, so there are no separate color units to match. Match the cartridge code 884922 against the supply label inside the front door of your machine; if that code is listed there, this is the correct replacement regardless of the branding on the cartridge you are taking out.

Output is turning pale near the end of the cartridge — is it really finished?

Not always. With a cartridge this large, toner settles during its long service life and the low end can look pale while usable toner remains. Slide the cartridge out and rock it gently from side to side a few times to level the toner inside, then print a test page. If the density evens out, you have more pages to run. If pages stay pale after the shake, the 30,000-page supply is genuinely spent and it is time for this replacement.

What happens if the cartridge fails partway through its life?

Every cartridge we sell carries a 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, and this one is no exception. A unit that leaks, streaks or gives out well short of its rated 30,000 pages is replaced or refunded, and returning it costs you nothing — the details are on our shipping & returns page. If you would rather talk a print problem through first, our support team answers Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

How fast will my order get here?

Orders ship from whichever of our four warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — is closest to you, so most addresses see delivery within a few business days. Because an MP 3500 usually serves a whole department, the practical move is to order when the low-toner message first appears rather than after the machine stops; a sealed cartridge stores on a shelf without any special care until the day it is needed.
