Frequently Asked Questions
What happens to incoming faxes while the cartridge is empty?
Received faxes cannot print until toner is back in the machine, so pages can sit waiting — or be missed entirely — while someone scrambles for a replacement. A spare on the shelf turns that emergency into a two-minute cartridge swap.
What does the 2-pack save me?
At $39.12 for two cartridges, you save $18.50 versus buying two singles at $28.81 each. Each cartridge works out to $19.56, and together they cover about 14,000 pages of prints, copies, and fax output.
Can one cartridge go in the MP-171F and the other in a different machine?
Close to the fax machine itself. Faxes do not wait for business hours, so the spare needs to be in the same room as the MP-171F, sealed in its packaging, where whoever finds the empty machine can swap it in on the spot.
When do I order the next pack?
As soon as the spare is installed, place the next order — that keeps one cartridge in reserve at all times. With warehouses in IL, PA, GA, and CA delivery is usually quick, but the reserve is what actually protects the fax line.
What protection comes with the 2-pack?
Both cartridges are covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for a year; the full policy is on our shipping & returns page. If a cartridge misbehaves, support is a phone call away Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
About This Ricoh MP-171F 2-Pack
This 2-pack of Ricoh 841718 black cartridges gives the MP-171F about 14,000 pages for $39.12 — $18.50 less than two singles. For a machine whose fax line cannot go quiet, the second cartridge is the point: one in the machine, one beside it, so a received fax never waits on a delivery truck. Both cartridges carry our one-year warranty and one-year free returns; see more of the family on our Ricoh page.
