Frequently Asked Questions

Is the W2021A the correct cyan for my M454dn?

Yes. The M454dn's cyan slot takes the W2021A from the 414A family — the code is printed on the cartridge you will remove, and this box carries the same code.

Our M454dn prints mostly text — why did cyan empty at all?

Because 'mostly text' is not 'only text': letterheads, charts, screenshots and web pages all pull cyan, and the printer also spends small amounts of color keeping itself calibrated. Over a couple of thousand pages, that background use adds up to an empty cyan.

What yield should we plan around?

The W2021A is rated at 2,100 pages. The M454dn is a printer only, so its cyan consumption is entirely driven by what the office sends it — no copy jobs quietly draining the cartridge in the background.

Greens look muddy but blues seem fine — still the cyan?

Muddy greens point at cyan too: green is cyan plus yellow, and a weak cyan makes greens go brownish while pure blues can still look acceptable. Swap in the fresh cartridge and print a color test page before judging — calibration needs a page or two to settle.

What is the price and coverage?

$90.65, with a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. Our shipping and returns page covers how orders travel.

Can support confirm the fit before I order?

Yes — give us the printer model and the code from your supplies page and we will verify it. The same 414A family fits machines like the Color Pro M479fdw, and our team is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This M454dn Cyan Cartridge

The M454dn in most offices is a documents machine that occasionally prints in color — which is exactly why its cyan surprises people by running out. This is the cartridge that answers that surprise: the W2021A, made for the M454dn's cyan slot, restoring the blues and greens that presentations and letterheads depend on. The machines on this platform, Color LaserJet Pro MFP M454dw, Color LaserJet Enterprise M455dn, Color LaserJet Enterprise MFP M480f, and Color LaserJet Pro M479fdw, share one toner standard between them: the 414A row.

We stock the HP 414A family across our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, so a single-color order like this one moves quickly. Match the code, drop the cartridge in, and let the printer recalibrate — the next color document off the M454dn will show you the difference. The family around it: 414A black cartridge (W2020A), 414A magenta cartridge (W2023A), and 414A yellow cartridge (W2022A), plus the 414A four-color set if you would rather refresh every slot at once. A longer-life alternative sits in the same family: the high-yield 414X cyan cartridge (W2021X).
