Frequently Asked Questions

• How many pages does the HP F6T84AN print?

HP rates the F6T84AN at about 10,000 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense colour pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Which printers take the F6T84AN?

It fits PageWide Pro 452dn, PageWide Pro 452dw, PageWide Pro 477dn, PageWide Pro 477dw and 3 more. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page — check your model there before ordering.

• 972A, 972X or 976Y — what is the difference?

All three fit the same PageWide slots; the letter is the yield tier. 972A is the standard tier, 972X roughly triples it, and 976Y is the extra-high tier sold for the PageWide Pro 500 series and the Managed P55250dw/P57750dw. Each product page lists exactly the models its tier is rated for.

• Is the F6T84AN pigment or dye ink?

It is pigment ink — the same ink technology HP uses in the original F6T84AN — so text stays sharp and resists water and highlighter smear.

• Is there a chip on this cartridge?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• The printer is showing a warning after I installed it — what now?

Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall.

• Can I run this alongside original HP cartridges?

Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colours (or the other way round) prints normally.

• Is this a genuine HP cartridge?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the F6T84AN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• Can I mix tiers — a 976Y black with 972A colours?

Yes. Each slot reads its own cartridge, so tiers can be mixed freely across the four slots.

• What happens if it leaks or the printer will not recognise it?

Stop and contact us — do not keep printing on a faulty cartridge. The lifetime warranty covers recognition failures, leaks and print-quality defects: we replace the cartridge or refund you.

• Need the other colours too?

The full set and the other single colours are linked under the family list on this page, so you can match this cartridge with its matching set.

• What is the best way to keep a spare cartridge?

Keep it sealed in its bag, upright in the orientation it would sit in the printer, at room temperature. Take it out only when the printer asks for it.
