Frequently Asked Questions

What page rating does the CF470X black carry?

The CF470X, the black member of the HP 657X family, is rated at up to 28,000 pages — the longest black rating for the Color LaserJet Enterprise M681 and M682 MFP platform, built for machines that print all day.

How can I confirm the CF470X is the black cartridge my MFP takes?

Open the supplies status on the MFP's control panel or check the label on the cartridge you are removing: the black slot on this platform takes the CF470X. Match the complete code, including the X, before you order. Photographing the old cartridge's label is a handy trick when you order for a machine in another building.

Why does an MFP go through black so quickly?

Because copies count too. Every black-and-white copy an M681 or M682 makes draws on the same cartridge as printing, so in a copy-heavy office black consumption runs well ahead of what print volume alone would suggest. Scan-to-email, by contrast, uses no toner at all — one more reason copy counts, not page counts, predict this cartridge's life.

What is the price of this cartridge?

You pay $92.55 for this CF470X black cartridge — a compatible replacement manufactured to the original 657X fit and its 28,000-page rating.

What coverage protects it after purchase?

A 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns cover the cartridge, so an early failure is exchanged or refunded under the policy. The terms are on our shipping and returns page.

How quickly will it arrive, and who can I contact?

Your order leaves from one of our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia, and California — normally whichever sits nearest you. Support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.

About This CF470X (657X) Black Toner Cartridge

The M681 and M682 are floor-standing MFPs that serve whole departments, and the CF470X black is sized for that duty: 28,000 rated pages per cartridge means the busiest machine in the building asks for toner a handful of times a year. This compatible cartridge installs like the original and keeps pace with combined print-and-copy workloads. In buildings where the MFP is the default printer for an entire floor, that stamina is precisely what the cartridge is bought for. See the platform in the Color LaserJet Enterprise M681 category, and browse HP toner cartridges for the rest of your fleet.
