Frequently Asked Questions

• How many pages does the HP CC641WN print?

HP rates the CC641WN at about 600 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense colour pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Which printers take the CC641WN?

It fits DeskJet D1660, DeskJet D2530, DeskJet D2545, DeskJet D2560 and 28 more. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page — check your model there before ordering.

• Black or tri-color — do I need both?

The printer needs both slots filled to print. The black cartridge prints text; the tri-color holds cyan, magenta and yellow in one body — when one colour runs out, the tri-color cartridge is replaced as a unit.

• Where is the printhead on this cartridge?

Built into the cartridge itself. Every swap fits a fresh printhead, which is why a new cartridge often clears streaks and missing colours that cleaning cycles could not fix on these models.

• Standard or XL — which should I buy?

This is the high-yield version, rated at about 600 pages. It costs more up front than the standard cartridge and far less per printed page, so it is the right pick for regular printing; the standard size suits a printer that only runs occasionally.

• Is the CC641WN pigment or dye ink?

It is pigment ink — the same ink technology HP uses in the original CC641WN — so text stays sharp and resists water and highlighter smear.

• Does this cartridge have a chip?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• My printer shows a warning after installing — what do I do?

Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall.

• Is the HP 60 the same fit as the HP 901?

No. They serve different printer generations — the 60 fits the DeskJet F-series, Photosmart C4600/D110 and the ENVY 100, 110 and 120 on this page, while the 901 belongs to the OfficeJet 4500 and J-series. The cartridges are not interchangeable.

• Can I mix this cartridge with original HP cartridges?

Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colours (or the other way round) prints normally.

• Is this an original HP cartridge?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the CC641WN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• What if the cartridge leaks, is not recognised or prints badly?

Stop and contact us — do not keep printing on a faulty cartridge. The lifetime warranty covers recognition failures, leaks and print-quality defects: we replace the cartridge or refund you.
