Frequently Asked Questions

What does one printed page actually cost with this cartridge?

The cartridge is $40.17 and is rated at 9,000 black pages, which works out to roughly 0.45 cents per page. That rating follows the standard 5% coverage convention, so a page of dense text or graphics uses more toner than the rating assumes; treat 0.45 cents as the planning figure for ordinary office documents rather than a per-sheet guarantee.

Is this the standard-yield or a high-yield cartridge?

This listing is the standard-yield black cartridge for the C3760 family, Dell part number 331-8421, rated at 9,000 pages. It is the cartridge to order when the machine calls for 331-8421; the part number is printed on the listing title and on the cartridge label itself.

Which printers does the 331-8421 go into?

It is made for Dell's Color Laser C3760n and Color Laser C3760dn. Both models take the same black cartridge, so one spare on the shelf covers either machine. If your printer's model badge says C3760n or C3760dn, this is the black supply it uses.

Does the C3760 use a separate drum I also need to buy?

No separate drum purchase is part of this listing — the 331-8421 is a toner cartridge, and the imaging components in the C3760 are serviced on their own schedule. This page is only about the black toner supply; if the printer reports a drum or imaging-unit message, that is a different part.

What signs tell me the cartridge is genuinely running out?

Black text turning gray or streaky, faded patches down one side of the page, and the printer's low-toner warning are the usual signs. Because it is black-only wear, color output can still look fine while black is nearly empty. A rated 9,000 pages also gives you a rough counter check: if the machine has printed close to that since the last change, fading is toner, not a fault.

What warranty and returns come with it?

This is a compatible cartridge, not a Dell original, and it is covered by a one-year warranty plus one-year free returns — see the shipping and returns page for the details. Orders ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST through the Dell toner range if you need help matching a part number.

About This Dell C3760 Black Toner Cartridge (331-8421)

This single compatible cartridge supplies black toner to Dell Color Laser C3760n and C3760dn printers. At $40.17 for a rated 9,000 pages, it is the straightforward one-at-a-time buy for a single machine: order it when the installed cartridge fades, or keep one sealed as the shelf spare so a change takes minutes instead of a delivery wait. The 331-8421 part number is the identifier to match against the cartridge you remove — if the old label reads 331-8421, this listing replaces it directly.
