Frequently Asked Questions

Why would a busy MFC-L8650 desk swap all four cartridges in one go?

On a document-heavy machine, the four TN331 cartridges rarely run dry on the same day — but when two or three are already showing low, a single full refresh ends the drip-feed of interruptions. The set puts a fresh black (2,500 pages) plus cyan, magenta and yellow (1,500 pages each) in the machine in one short session, so the desk goes back to printing instead of watching toner warnings.

Which printers does this four-pack actually serve?

This set is built for the Brother machines that take the TN331 family, including the one this page is about: HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW, HL-L8350CDWT and MFC-L8600CDW. If your printer's cartridge code reads TN331BK, TN331C, TN331M or TN331Y, these are the cartridges it uses.

What does the set save compared with buying the colors one at a time?

Bought separately, the four cartridges total $129.91 ($31.33 for black, $32.86 for each color). The set is $74.41 — a saving of $55.50 — and it also means one order, one delivery and one install session instead of four.

My MFC-L8650 mostly prints black documents. Is a full color set overkill?

It depends on your mix. A black-only workflow can run on the standalone TN331 black cartridge, but the MFC-L8650 will still consume small amounts of color toner on mixed jobs and cleaning cycles, and a completely empty color cartridge can stop color work entirely. Offices that scan-to-print, copy in color or produce the occasional chart usually find the set the simpler stock to keep.

There is a TN336 family as well — how does it relate to this set?

TN336 is the high-yield counterpart of this platform: its black is rated at 4,000 pages and its colors at 3,500, against 2,500 and 1,500 here. Very high-volume desks sometimes step up to TN336; for the standard-yield rhythm the MFC-L8650 was sold with, the TN331 set matches the original specification exactly.

What cover comes with the set if a cartridge underperforms?

Every cartridge in the set carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under our shipping & returns policy. Orders ship from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available 9 AM–5 PM CST if you want help before or after fitting.

About This TN331 4-Color Set for the MFC-L8650

The MFC-L8650 earns its place on desks where the day's work is paper: contracts, invoices, scanned files printed back out, copies for the file. This TN331 four-color set is stocked for exactly that rhythm — a standard-yield black rated at 2,500 pages with the three colors at 1,500 pages each, all four swapped in one sitting so the machine stops asking for attention one cartridge at a time. At $74.41 against $129.91 bought singly, the set is also the cheapest way to put the Brother TN331 platform back to a full tank.
