Frequently Asked Questions

A color just ran out on my DCP-9045CN — why am I looking at a black cartridge?

Because on this platform, supplies are separate decisions. The empty color needs its own TN115C, M or Y cartridge (4,000 pages each) — but offices usually discover their black is nearly gone at the same moment. This TN115BK (5,000 pages, $44.92, about 0.90¢ a page) is the high-yield black that pairs with those colors, and each one installs independently.

Which machines use this black?

It fits the TN115 platform printers: DCP-9040CN, DCP-9045CDN, HL-4040CDN, HL-4040CN, HL-4070CDW, MFC-9440CN and MFC-9450CDN

Can the printer keep working with one color empty?

For black-only jobs, generally yes — monochrome printing draws on the TN115BK alone. Color documents will wait for the empty color to be replaced. The practical lesson is to replace colors as they empty rather than waiting for all four to fail together.

Is there a smarter way to restock when several cartridges are low?

Yes: the TN115 four-color set at $127.02 bundles this black with all three colors for less than the four singles combined. If only one supply is actually low, though, buying that single remains the honest cheaper answer.

TN115BK versus TN110BK — what changes?

Capacity. The TN110BK is the standard-yield black for the same printers at 2,500 pages; the TN115BK carries 5,000. Same fit, same color platform — the high-yield simply halves how often black interrupts your week.

What if I am not happy with it?

This compatible cartridge comes with a one-year warranty and one-year free returns; the details live on the shipping and returns page. It ships from IL, PA, GA or CA, and our support team works 9 AM–5 PM CST.

About This TN115BK for the DCP-9045CN

An empty color cartridge teaches every 9045CN owner the same lesson: on a four-cartridge platform, you manage four small inventories, not one. This black is the easiest of the four to manage — 5,000 pages at roughly 0.90¢ each means it asks for attention half as often as the standard cartridge. Keep the colors honest one at a time, and let this TN115BK quietly outlast them; the full family is listed under Brother supplies.
