Frequently Asked Questions

We copy class sets of worksheets every morning. Which cartridge takes the beating?

The black one. Worksheets are text and line work, so the black cartridge — rated at 3,000 pages — does nearly all of the daily copying, while cyan, magenta and yellow, rated at 2,500 pages each, are spent in small amounts on posters, certificates and color handouts. Expect black to need replacing several times before any color does.

How do we check this set against the machine in our office?

Read the part numbers on the labels of the cartridges already installed. You are looking for black 106R01597, cyan 106R01594, magenta 106R01595 and yellow 106R01596. This set contains exactly those four, so if the labels agree, ordering is a settled matter.

A color ran dry halfway through a stack of certificates. What now?

Replace only that color. Each cartridge is an independent sealed unit, so the empty one comes out and its replacement goes in without disturbing the other three — and without wasting the toner still left in them. The half-finished stack resumes where it stopped.

Does scanning homework and permission slips wear the cartridges down?

No. Scanning uses no toner whatsoever; only printing and copying draw on the cartridges. A center that scans far more than it prints will find its toner lasting a long time relative to the paper passing through the machine.

The center closes for school holidays. How should the spare set be kept?

In its box, in a regular storage cupboard — sealed, dry and out of direct sunlight. Unopened cartridges are content to wait through a holiday break, and installing them one at a time as each color runs out is the normal way a set gets used up.

How do we get a set delivered, and what cover does it carry?

Orders ship from whichever of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses is nearest you, with timeframes and return steps set out on our shipping and returns page. Every cartridge carries a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and single cartridges for this family are listed on the Xerox brand page.

About This WorkCentre 6505N High Yield Four-Color Set

The WorkCentre 6505N in a tutoring center has a timetable of its own: worksheet copies before the first session, progress reports at month's end, certificates when a student levels up. This high yield set fits that routine — a 3,000-page black cartridge for the everyday copying load and 2,500 pages from each color for the pieces that get pinned to the wall. Check the four part numbers once, order the set at $72.30, and keep it in the supply cupboard so class never waits on a cartridge.
