Frequently Asked Questions

What does the number 106R02740 actually identify?

It is Xerox's part number for the extra-high-yield black toner cartridge used by the WorkCentre 3655 family — the code printed on the label of the cartridge you pull out and the code the machine's supplies screen asks for. This listing is one compatible 106R02740 cartridge, rated at up to 25,900 pages.

Why does this cartridge carry an 'extra high yield' label?

Because 25,900 pages is the largest fill Xerox specifies for this cartridge design. There is no standard-yield sibling you need to graduate from: this one cartridge size is the platform's big tank, so a single swap carries a busy machine for months instead of weeks.

What does a page cost with this cartridge?

At $48.00 for up to 25,900 pages, the math lands at roughly 0.19 cents per page at standard 5% coverage. Few cartridges in this class break the fifth-of-a-cent line, which is why the 106R02740 is a favorite wherever a monthly print bill gets reviewed line by line.

Which printers does the 106R02740 fit?

This cartridge serves the WorkCentre 3655 and the WorkCentre 3655i. If your machine's front panel or supply label names either model, the cartridge on this page is the one it takes.

Should I keep a second one on the shelf?

At this price many offices do exactly that — one in the machine, one in the cabinet. If you would rather buy the reserve together with the working cartridge, the 106R02740 5-pack drops the per-cartridge cost to about $33.21, while this single stays the right pick for a one-off replacement.

What protection comes with it?

Each cartridge is covered by a 1-year warranty, and returns are free for a full year if it falls short in your machine. Full terms sit on our shipping and returns page; support answers Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
