Frequently Asked Questions

What should the first pages look like after I install this in my B4400?

Dark, even and clean from the first sheet. Run a couple of ordinary text pages: the black should be solid in headings and fine print alike, with no fading down one side. If the first pages look weak, reseat the cartridge firmly — a cartridge that is not fully home is the most common cause — before assuming the cartridge itself is at fault.

Which cartridge number does the B4400 actually take?

The 43502301. This listing is simply that cartridge presented under the B4400's name; the supply itself is the same 43502301 black cartridge rated at up to 3,000 pages. Checking the number on the cartridge you remove is the surest confirmation, and it also means this cartridge serves the B4400n, B4500, B4500n, B4550, B4550n, B4600 and B4600n as well.

How far does 3,000 pages go on a desktop B4400?

For a personal or small-desk printer printing a few dozen pages a day, one cartridge typically lasts months. At the $26.81 price the toner cost is roughly 0.89 cents per page at the rated coverage; heavy-coverage pages will shorten the cartridge's life, light text will stretch it.

Why choose this compatible cartridge over the original Okidata one?

Price, without giving up the rating: this is a Clever Supplies compatible built to the 43502301 specification, in the same 3,000-page yield class, at $26.81. For a workhorse mono printer that lives on invoices, labels and letters, the running cost difference adds up cartridge after cartridge.

My B4400 prints are fading on one side — is it the cartridge?

Often, yes: uneven fading usually means the toner is running low and distributing poorly. Rock the cartridge gently side to side and reprint — if the fading evens out briefly and then returns, the cartridge is nearly empty and a replacement like this one is the real fix rather than a printer fault.

What if this cartridge lets me down?
