The Xpress M2875FD says to replace the imaging unit. Is that the same as the toner?
No — the Xpress M2875FD keeps toner and imaging separate. The MLT-D116S or MLT-D116L is the toner cartridge you swap regularly; the MLT-R116 imaging unit (drum) lasts through multiple toner cartridges and is replaced far less often. A replace-imaging-unit message means drum print quality has degraded, not that toner is out. Swapping toner will not clear a drum warning, and vice versa.
