Frequently Asked Questions

What actually arrives in the box?

Two CE285A black cartridges, each sealed in its own bag inside the carton. They are identical standard cartridges for the compact LaserJet platform — the LaserJet M1132 family and its relatives — each rated at 1,600 pages. Nothing about the pair is shared or split: you install one complete cartridge, and the second waits complete on the shelf.

Why buy two at once instead of reordering each time?

Because the moment a cartridge dies is never convenient. With the second unit already in the building, a faded page at 4 PM is a two-minute swap instead of a stopped printer and an urgent order. For a single-printer office the 2 pack is the smallest stock that removes toner from the list of things that can interrupt a working day.

How should the spare be stored?

Leave it in its sealed bag, in its box, stored flat — not on end — in a cool, dry cupboard away from radiators, direct sun and damp. Do not open the bag or pull the sealing strip until the day you install it; the seal is what keeps the toner settled and the cartridge clean. Stored that way, a spare is patient stock.

Will the spare go stale sitting on the shelf?

No. Toner is a dry powder; it does not dry out the way liquid ink does, and a sealed cartridge keeps for an extended period without its print quality suffering. The only habit worth forming is rotation: when the pack is eventually reordered, put the new stock behind the old and always install the longest-held cartridge first.

Each cartridge really does the full 1,600 pages?

Yes — the rating belongs to each cartridge individually, measured at the standard five per cent coverage used across the industry. Text-led office printing gets near it; heavy graphics pages use more toner per sheet and finish sooner. Plan around the per-cartridge figure and your printer's own level readings rather than any combined number.

What protection covers the pack?

Both cartridges carry the compatible range's 1-year warranty, with 1-year free returns set out on our shipping and returns page. Questions are answered Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and orders leave our Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California warehouses.

About This CE285A Black Toner Cartridge 2 Pack

Two standard CE285A cartridges — the 85A family — bundled at $35.01: one for the printer, one for the shelf. Each is rated at 1,600 pages, and each fits the whole compact HP platform that takes this cartridge.

As part of the HP compatible range, the 2 pack is the entry point to stocking rather than scrambling. It is sized for the single-printer home office and the small front desk: enough depth to absorb a dead cartridge without drama, small enough that the spare is used long before storage becomes a question.
