Frequently Asked Questions
Do copies draw from the same cartridge as prints on our B5465DNF?
Yes — every page the machine produces, printed or copied, comes out of the same toner supply. That is why multifunction units surprise people: the copy count at the front desk quietly adds to the print count from the office, and together they work through this cartridge's 6,000-page rating. This is Dell part number 331-9797, priced at $106.93.
How long between swaps on a busy front-desk machine?
Add prints and copies together before you estimate. A combined 1,500 pages a month gives you around four months per cartridge; a combined 3,000 a month brings the swap round every two months or so. Ratings assume standard coverage, so forms and copies with heavy dark areas will shorten those intervals somewhat.
Copies look faded but prints from the computer still look fine — same problem?
Almost certainly the same cartridge. Both routes lay down toner from the one supply, so a cartridge running low tends to show it first wherever the day's volume is heaviest — often the copier side, where nobody is watching quality closely. When copies wash out, check the cartridge before blaming the scanner glass.
Is this cartridge the same one sold for the B5460 models?
It is the same 331-9797 cartridge; this listing is simply titled for the B5465DNF. One cartridge serves this whole family of Dell department machines, which is why you will find it listed several ways across the site at the same $106.93.
What does the per-page cost work out to?
Roughly 1.78 cents per rated page — the $106.93 price divided by 6,000 pages. Stated plainly: this is a department-class cartridge, not a penny-a-page one. What the money buys is a 6,000-page run between changes on a machine the whole office depends on, copies included.
What cover comes with it?
A 1-year warranty with 1-year free returns, plus support Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you need a hand. The complete terms are on our shipping & returns page.
