Frequently Asked Questions

What does a printed page actually cost with this set in our 5130?

Work it from the set price. $140.48 buys four cartridges — an average of $35.12 each. Attribute that average to the black 330-5846 and its 18,000-page rating comes out at about 0.20 cents per page; attribute it to a color such as the 330-5850 cyan at 12,000 pages and you get about 0.29 cents per page. Real pages vary with coverage, but as a costing basis for the 5130's output those are the honest figures.

Why is the black rated at 18,000 pages when the colors are 12,000?

Because office printing is mostly black. Text, forms and reports draw on the 330-5846 constantly, while the 330-5850, 330-5843 and 330-5852 share the smaller color workload between three cartridges. The ratings follow that pattern: a bigger reservoir where the demand is, so the four cartridges land nearer to a shared replacement rhythm than equal ratings would.

What is in the box?

One of each cartridge the 5130 family runs on: 330-5846 black (18,000 pages), 330-5850 cyan, 330-5843 magenta and 330-5852 yellow (12,000 pages each), yields stated at the standard 5% coverage.

How do we turn this into a yearly toner budget for the 5130?

Count your annual pages and divide. Every 18,000 black pages or 12,000 color pages is one set's worth of that side of the machine, so a department printing 36,000 pages a year in mostly mono with regular color should budget roughly two to three sets — $281 to $421 at $140.48 a set — rather than guessing month by month.

Which printers take this set?

The Dell Color Laser 5120cdn and 5130cdn departmental printers, whose supply codes are exactly these: 330-5846, 330-5850, 330-5843 and 330-5852. This listing is the one catalogued under the 5130 name.

What warranty and returns stand behind it?

It is a compatible set, not Dell-made, covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under the terms on our shipping and returns page. Support hours are Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
