Frequently Asked Questions

What do the D and N in 7100DN mean — and do they change the toner?

They describe the printer, not the cartridge. D stands for duplex — automatic two-sided printing — and N for the built-in network connection. Neither alters the black cartridge: a Phaser 7100 DN takes the same 106R02605 as the rest of the family, and this listing is that cartridge, sold under the DN's name.

How many cartridges does this listing include?

One, despite the plural wording in its title. This is a single 106R02605 black cartridge, rated at up to 5,000 pages, priced at $66.69. Multi-cartridge packs of the same cartridge exist in this family if you want them; this page exists for the buyer who needs exactly one replacement for a 7100DN and no more.

How does two-sided printing affect the page rating?

The 5,000-page rating counts printed pages, and a two-sided sheet carries two printed pages — one on each face. So a duplex-heavy DN working through long reports will move through the rating roughly twice as fast per sheet as a single-sided machine. It is worth bearing in mind when you estimate how long a cartridge will last: count sides, not sheets.

What does black toner cost per page on this machine?

About 1.33 cents: $66.69 spread over up to 5,000 pages. For a networked workgroup printer churning through double-sided documents, that figure is the one to use in any cost-per-page comparison, and it holds steady across the cartridge's life rather than drifting as the toner runs down.

What is a good reorder habit for a shared network printer?

Order on the warning, not on the stoppage. A DN serves several people, so nobody feels personally responsible for its toner until it stops mid-run. The practical fix is a rule: whoever sees the low-toner message first orders the same day, or the office keeps one sealed spare next to the machine and reorders when the spare goes in. Either way, a $66.69 cartridge should never idle a whole team.

What warranty and returns cover applies?

The cartridge carries a 1-year warranty with free returns for a full year; the full terms are on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, support runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the 7100 family's range is on our Xerox toner page.
