Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly do I get in this 2-pack?

Two individually sealed compatible 106R03524 black cartridges, each rated at up to 10,500 pages — 21,000 rated pages in the box. They are not one oversized unit; each cartridge is a complete, standard refill for the black bay of a machine like the Versalink C400, so the working pattern is simple: the first goes in now, the second stays sealed on the shelf, and the day the printer stops for toner the swap takes minutes instead of starting a delivery wait.

How does the pricing break down per cartridge and per page?

The pair is $61.57, which is $30.79 per cartridge. Spread over the 21,000 rated pages the two units carry, the cost comes to about 0.29 cents per page — every figure taken from this listing's own price and ratings. Nothing is bundled on top: no contract, no subscription, no service plan. The arithmetic that matters for a buyer is that both cartridges are paid for once, up front, and the second one's cost is already settled when you reach for it months later.

How does owning the pair change the way I reorder?

It moves the reorder point from "the printer has stopped" to "the spare just went in." With a single cartridge, the low-toner warning starts a scramble; with this pack, the warning is just information, because the replacement is already on site. You reorder when the shelf goes empty rather than when the machine does, which turns toner buying into a planned purchase on your schedule instead of an urgent one on the printer's. For an office that prints steadily, that calmer cadence is most of what the 106R03524 2-pack is really selling.

Does the second cartridge lose anything by waiting on the shelf?

No, as long as it waits properly: sealed in its bag and box, lying flat, in a cool dry spot away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Toner does not settle or spoil in any way that matters over the span of the first cartridge's life, and when the spare is finally opened it prints with the same density the first unit started with. The one habit worth keeping is rotation — if you ever hold more than one spare, use the oldest first so no cartridge sits for years.

Which machines does this pair fit?

Every model in the two families that take this code. That covers the Versalink C400 D and Versalink C400 DN printers, and the multifunction Versalink C405 MFP, Versalink C405DN and Versalink C405N — different trays and features, one shared black cartridge. Before ordering, glance at the code on the cartridge you are replacing: 106R03524 on the label means this pair is the right refill for either unit.

If one of the two cartridges turns out to be faulty, what happens?

It is handled on its own — coverage runs per cartridge, so a defective unit is replaced or refunded without the good one being involved. Each 106R03524 carries its own 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns. Orders ship from whichever of our four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — is closest to you, with full terms on our shipping & returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the rest of the range for this platform sits in our Xerox catalogue.
