Frequently Asked Questions

Is a three-pack roughly a year's supply for our SCX-6545N?

For a mid-volume department, close to it. Three SCX-D6555A cartridges hold 75,000 rated pages between them, so a machine averaging 6,000 pages a month across printing and copying would take about a year to empty the box, and one averaging 3,000 a month would take two years. Check your machine's page counter for a month and divide it into 75,000 — that gives your own honest figure.

What does the pack bring the per-cartridge price down to?

$81.56 a cartridge: the three-pack is $244.69 against $281.67 for three singles bought one at a time, so $36.98 stays in the budget. Per page, the cost eases from about 0.38 cents to about 0.33 cents — modest per sheet, but multiplied by 75,000 sheets it is the whole point of buying this way.

Our machine copies constantly — does the pack cover copying as well as printing?

Completely. The SCX-D6555A is the only black supply the SCX-6545N draws on, and copies spend it at exactly the same rate as prints. Scanning is the exception that proves the rule: it produces files, not pages, and takes nothing from the cartridge. When you size a pack, size it against prints and copies added together.

How do we know this pack matches our machine?

Read the cartridge that comes out. This pack is built around the SCX-D6555A supply the SCX-6545N names on its label — three cartridges carrying that code, in compatible form. The stamped code is the reliable check; if your old cartridge carries it, every cartridge in this box is its replacement.

Does toner go stale if the third cartridge waits a year or more?

Not in any way that affects printing, provided it waits properly: sealed in its box, stored flat, in a dry cupboard away from radiators and sunlight. Rotate oldest-first as you work through the pack and the last cartridge will print like the first. What ages a cartridge is heat and a broken seal, not the calendar.

What cover does this purchase carry?

A one-year warranty against defects on each cartridge, with returns free of charge at any point in the first year — full details are on our shipping and returns page. The pack is dispatched from the closest of our IL, PA, GA and CA warehouses, and our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
