Frequently Asked Questions

Why does a long-run machine like the X748dte pair naturally with a two-pack?

Because its whole purpose is printing unattended for hours, and a toner-out stop wastes exactly the setup the extra tray was bought for. With the second cartridge beside the machine, a mid-batch swap takes minutes and the run continues. The spare is not stock for someday — it is part of how this configuration is meant to be operated.

What is the saving on the two-pack?

Priced as singles, two cartridges come to $192.78; the two-pack is $174.29, so you keep $18.49 and pay $87.15 per cartridge. Over the pair's 24,000 rated pages that is about 0.73 cents per page. One delivery instead of two is a small bonus for whoever receives your orders.

Can this pack also serve the plain X748de in the next office?

Yes. The C746H2KG is shared across the platform — C746DN, C746DTN, C746N, C748DE, C748DTE, C748E, X746DE, X748DE and X748DTE — and the tray difference between the dte and de changes nothing about toner. This listing names the X748dte, but either cartridge can go into any listed model. Only the black slot is covered by this pack.

How long will 24,000 pages last our mixed letter-and-legal workload?

Plan conservatively. Letter-size text at moderate coverage might approach the rating; legal forms and dense documents will pull the real figure down, sometimes substantially. A site running 2,000 mixed pages a month might see nine to twelve months from the pair — use your own page counter for the second order, not the calendar.

Where should the spare cartridge live?

In its sealed box, flat, somewhere dry at normal room temperature — ideally in the same cabinet as the paper stock, not on top of the machine where heat rises. Toner powder is stable for long periods stored that way, so the spare will perform identically when its turn comes. Keep it out of direct sunlight and it needs no other attention.

What cover applies to both cartridges in the pack?

Both carry a one-year warranty, and you have a full year to return either one free of charge if something is wrong — details are on our shipping and returns page. Coverage is per cartridge, so a problem with one never drags the other into question. Support is on hand Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
