Frequently Asked Questions
How long will a 36,000-page cartridge actually last in my office?
That depends on your monthly volume: at 3,000 pages a month it is roughly a year of printing, and even a busy department printing 6,000 pages a month gets about six months from one cartridge. The rating assumes the standard 5% page coverage used across the industry, so graphics-heavy work will use toner faster. Either way, this is the longest-running cartridge made for the T654 platform.
How does the X tier compare with the H tier's 25,000 pages?
The T654X11A's 36,000-page yield is 11,000 pages beyond the H tier — about 44% more printing from a single cartridge swap. That brings the running cost down to roughly 0.39¢ per page at the $139.13 price, the lowest figure available in this cartridge family. Fewer swaps also means fewer interruptions for whoever manages your printers.
Will this cartridge fit my printer?
It fits the Lexmark models designed for the T654X11A extra-high-yield cartridge: T654, T654DN, T654DTN, T654N, T656 and T656DNE. Because it is physically larger in capacity than the standard and high-yield versions, always confirm your model appears on that list before ordering. The cartridge code is also printed on the label of the cartridge currently in your machine.
My office is small — is extra high yield still worth it?
If your T654 prints only occasionally, a standard cartridge may be all you need, and there is no harm in choosing it. But if the printer is your office workhorse, the X tier's lower per-page cost and once-or-twice-a-year changes usually win out quickly. Many small offices buy it simply to stop thinking about toner for most of the year.
What are the signs that this cartridge is finally empty?
Watch for the printer's low-toner alert, followed by prints that fade unevenly or lose density on solid areas. A gentle side-to-side rock of the cartridge can redistribute the last of the toner for a brief extension. When output fades again after that, the cartridge is spent and should be replaced.
What if the cartridge fails before it should?
It is covered by a one-year warranty, and returns are free for one year from purchase — if it leaks, streaks, or dies early, we will replace it or refund it. You can read the full terms on our shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Central.
