Frequently Asked Questions

• How many pages does the HP CB323WN print?

HP rates the CB323WN at about 750 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense colour pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Which printers take the CB323WN?

It fits DeskJet 3070A, DeskJet 3520, DeskJet 3521, DeskJet 3522 and 63 more. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page — check your model there before ordering.

• Why does this family have both a Black and a Photo Black?

They do different jobs. The pigment Black prints everyday text. The Photo Black is dye ink that only the five-slot Photosmart models use, for darker shadows in photos. If your printer has five slots it needs both: the 564XL Photo Black sits alongside the four everyday colours, and the text Black cannot do its job.

• Standard or XL — which should I buy?

This is the high-yield version, rated at about 750 pages. It costs more up front than the standard cartridge and far less per printed page, so it is the right pick for regular printing; the standard size suits a printer that only runs occasionally.

• Is the CB323WN pigment or dye ink?

It is dye-based ink, matching the original CB323WN: colours are vivid and blend smoothly, which is what these printers are tuned for.

• What chip does this cartridge use?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• A warning appeared after fitting this cartridge — how do I clear it?

Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall.

• Will it work next to genuine HP cartridges in the other slots?

Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colours (or the other way round) prints normally.

• Does every HP 564 printer need all five cartridges?

No. Four-slot models run on black, cyan, magenta and yellow only. The Photo Black is used solely by the five-cartridge Photosmart models listed for it — check the Compatible Printers list on the Photo Black page against your model.

• Is this made by HP?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the CB323WN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• What cover do I have if this cartridge fails?

Stop and contact us — do not keep printing on a faulty cartridge. The lifetime warranty covers recognition failures, leaks and print-quality defects: we replace the cartridge or refund you.

• Need the other colours too?

The full set and the other single colours are linked under the family list on this page, so you can match this cartridge with its matching set.
