Frequently Asked Questions

Who actually goes through 62,500 pages of black toner?

More offices than you would think — they just do it on shared machines. A single busy workgroup printer handling contracts, reports and correspondence for a whole department can pass 5,000 pages a month without anyone noticing, and at that pace this box's five 040HBK cartridges, 12,500 pages each, are about a year's supply. The 5-pack is built for that pattern: high, steady volume on one or two imageCLASS machines where running dry is an operational problem, not an inconvenience.

What is the cheapest per-page figure in the 040H black family?

This is it. At $193.53 for five cartridges, each 040HBK costs $38.71 and the running cost lands at roughly 0.31 cents per page — the floor of the family. The ladder runs $53.50 for a single, $44.25 each in the 2-pack and $41.17 each in the 3-pack, so the 5-pack saves $73.97 against five singles. There is no 10-pack in this family; if you want the lowest 040H black price per cartridge, this box is where it stops.

Five cartridges is a lot of shelf stock — how do we manage it sensibly?

Treat it like a small stores system rather than a pile. Keep the cartridges sealed, flat and dated in a cool, dry place out of sunlight; always install the oldest one next; and set your reorder point at one cartridge remaining — that last 12,500 pages is months of cover, so the next order never has to be rushed. Offices that run several compatible printers on the same 040H platform can hold this stock centrally and issue cartridges to whichever machine asks first.

Does buying five at once magnify the risk if a cartridge is bad?

No — the cover is per cartridge, not per order. Every 040HBK in the box carries our 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should, so a problem with one cartridge is handled on its own without disturbing the other four. That structure is exactly why bulk-buying a compatible cartridge is a different proposition from bulk-buying an unbranded gamble. Terms are on our shipping and returns page.

When is the 5-pack the wrong choice?

When the printer's future is uncertain or the volume is not really there. If a machine replacement is likely within the year, five cartridges of 040H stock can outlive the printer they were bought for, and the saving evaporates. Likewise, a light-use office printing a few hundred pages a month would take years to finish this box — the 2-pack or 3-pack keeps less cash on the shelf while still beating the single price. The honest test is your monthly page count: this pack earns its place from roughly 2,500 pages a month upward.

How fast will a box like this reach us?

It ships from whichever of our four US warehouses — Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California — is positioned to get it to you soonest, so the journey starts inside the country rather than with an overseas leg. If you need to check anything about the order or the cartridge before it leaves, our team is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
