Frequently Asked Questions

The TN436BK costs only about $2 less — is stepping up to the TN439BK really worth it?

On the numbers, yes. The TN436BK is rated at 6,500 pages for $31.68, while this TN439BK is rated at 9,000 pages for $33.91. That is roughly 38% more printing for $2.23 more, and it pulls your cost down from about 0.49 cents to about 0.38 cents per page.

What does a 9,000-page yield look like in a real office?

Yields are measured on standard test pages at about 5% coverage, which is close to a typical page of business text. An office printing around 500 black pages a month can expect a single TN439BK to last well over a year. Dense documents with heavy graphics will use toner faster, so treat 9,000 as a solid average rather than a guarantee.

Which Brother printers does the TN439BK fit?

This cartridge is built for HL-L9310CDW, HL-L9310CDWT, HL-L9310CDWTT and MFC-L9570CDW. It is the highest-yield black option for that platform. The same machines also accept the TN433 and TN436 tiers, so moving up to TN439 requires no changes to the printer at all.

Can I pair a TN439 black with TN433 or TN436 color cartridges already in my machine?

Yes. Each slot in the printer works independently, and the three tiers mix freely. Many offices run the TN439 in black — the cartridge they burn through fastest — while finishing their existing TN433 or TN436 colors, then upgrade the colors later.

How will I know when the cartridge is truly finished?

The printer will flag a low-toner warning first, but that message is only an estimate. Keep printing until pages start to look noticeably faded or streaky. Rocking the cartridge gently side to side redistributes the remaining toner and usually buys a few more clean pages before you swap it out.

What happens if the cartridge arrives damaged or fails early?

Every cartridge we sell is backed by a one-year warranty and a one-year free return window, so a defective unit is replaced or refunded rather than argued over. The full terms are on our shipping and returns page. Real people answer support Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
