Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I buy two black drum units at once?

Either you run more than one of these printers, or you want the replacement on the shelf before you need it. At $58.77 for the pair, each drum works out to $29.39 instead of $38.63 bought singly — a saving of $18.49 across the two — and a worn drum never has to wait on a delivery.

Are both units the same black drum?

Yes, the box contains two identical DR223K black drum units — the same unit sold on its own as the DR223K drum. Each is rated for about 18,000 pages, so the pair covers roughly 36,000 pages of black drum life.

What printers are these drums for?

Each unit is the black drum for HL-L3210CW, HL-L3230CDW, HL-L3270CDW, HL-L3290CDW, MFC-L3710CW, MFC-L3750CDW and MFC-L3770CDW. Every printer on this platform has four drum positions — one per color — and these fill the black position, working with TN223 or TN227 black toner cartridges.

How should I store the spare drum?

Keep it sealed in its bag, inside the box, away from direct light. Drum surfaces are light-sensitive, so the spare should stay packaged in a drawer or cupboard until the day you install it — stored that way, it keeps indefinitely.

Does a drum problem look different from a toner problem?

Usually, yes. Toner running low fades evenly across the page; a worn drum leaves repeating marks, lines or a gray background that stay in fixed positions — and crucially, they do not improve when you change the toner cartridge. That is the signal to reach for the spare drum.

What if one of the two drums turns out to be faulty?

Both units are covered by our one-year warranty with free returns for a year, as set out on the shipping & returns page. A fault in one unit is handled on its own — you never have to send back the good one.

About This DR223K Black Drum 2-Pack

This pack pairs two DR223K black drum units — about 18,000 pages of rated life each — for $58.77, saving $18.49 versus two single drums. It suits multi-printer offices and anyone who treats the drum like the toner: a consumable to keep in stock, not an emergency purchase. The drums ship from IL, PA, GA or CA, and the rest of the platform's supplies are on our Brother toner page.
