Frequently Asked Questions
The XXL black costs only $5.50 more than the XL — what is the real difference?
Two thousand pages. The high-yield TN635XLBK is a 5,500-page cartridge at $139.49. This TN635XXLBK is rated at 7,500 pages and costs $144.99 — so for $5.50 extra you get a further 2,000 pages, and the running cost falls from about 2.5 cents a page to roughly 1.9 cents. It is the most lopsided upgrade in the whole TN635 family, and the reason heavy black printers start here rather than at the lower tiers.
How long is 7,500 pages in a working office?
For a team printing a thousand black pages a month — invoices, statements, shipping paperwork — one TN635XXLBK covers the better part of a year of black printing. Even at double that volume it is a quarterly purchase rather than a monthly one. Fewer changes also means fewer interruptions and fewer chances for a print run to stall mid-job on an empty cartridge.
Why would anyone not buy the biggest cartridge, then?
Two honest reasons. Light users tie up money in toner they may not use for years, and the standard cartridge's lower ticket price suits them better. And some offices standardise on the XL across several machines for simpler stock-keeping. But judged purely on cost per page, nothing in this family touches the TN635XXLBK — if your printer works hard, this is the rational default.
Does a cartridge this size need any special handling?
Only the usual care. Before fitting, rock it gently side to side to distribute the toner evenly, as the printer manual describes. In storage, keep it sealed, flat and at room temperature. A 7,500-page cartridge may be in service a long time, so it is also worth an occasional glance at the printer's drum unit — the drum is a separate part with its own service life, and it does not come in this box.
What warranty and returns cover does this cartridge carry?
Our store's 30-day return window applies to it in every case, as it does to all genuine Brother products we sell. After 30 days, the cartridge is backed by Brother's manufacturer warranty for defects. The shipping & returns page explains the return steps, and our support desk is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST.
