Frequently Asked Questions

What's in this box — and, just as important, what isn't?

Three cartridges: one TN331C cyan, one TN331M magenta and one TN331Y yellow, each rated at 1,500 pages. What is not in the box is a black. This is a colour-refresh set, and the black slot is served separately by the TN331BK standard black or the TN336BK high-yield. If your black is also near the end, add it to the same order rather than discovering it a week later.

Does the set actually beat buying the three colours one at a time?

Yes, by a clean margin. The three singles sell at $99.85 each — $299.55 the set of three. This box is $272.89, so you keep $26.66, and the per-cartridge cost drops to about $90.96. Against list prices the gap is wider still: $382.05 for the set against $419.37 for three list-price singles. One box, one delivery, and a saving on top.

Why refresh all three colours together instead of waiting for each warning?

Colours installed together tend to live together — they were filled to the same rating and have printed the same jobs. When the first one fades, the other two are rarely far behind, so changing the row in one sitting trades three small interruptions for one planned one, and fresh colours of matched age keep colour balance honest. It also means one shipping event instead of three.

Which printers does this colour set serve?

The same five L8250/L8350-generation models the family always serves: HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW, HL-L8350CDWT, MFC-L8600CDW and MFC-L8850CDW. The three cartridges drop into the cyan, magenta and yellow slots respectively — they are colour-coded and keyed, so there is no way to seat one in the wrong position.

Only one of my colours has run out — is the set still the right purchase?

Honestly, not on price alone. If a single colour is empty and the other two are reporting healthy levels, the $99.85 single is the economical move and this set would park two cartridges on the shelf. The set earns its place when the colours are ageing as a group — which, on printers where they were installed together, is most of the time.

How do returns and warranty work on a set?

The set carries the same OEM terms as every genuine Brother product here: send it back within 30 days of delivery if anything is amiss, and the cartridges are covered by Brother's manufacturer warranty. Full details are on our shipping and returns page. Support is around Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want to talk it through first.
