Frequently Asked Questions

Why pair a brand-new drum with two 12,000-page cartridges instead of one?

Because together they cover nearly a whole drum-life of printing in a single purchase. The DR820 drum is rated at 30,000 pages; two TN880 cartridges hold 24,000 pages of toner between them. Fit the drum and the first cartridge now, keep the second cartridge sealed in reserve, and the machine's consumables horizon stretches to most of the drum's working life — cartridge swaps become the only interruptions, and even those are 12,000 pages apart. For a department that prints continuously, this is the closest thing the platform offers to a fit-and-forget year.

What does the box work out at per page, honestly counted?

Against the toner it carries, the $457.78 bundle price divides across 24,000 pages at roughly 1.9 cents a page — and that accounting is conservative, because the drum still has some 6,000 pages of rated life left in hand when the second cartridge empties. Few mono platforms run genuine toner at that figure. The comparison that matters is with the same parts bought separately: $481.87 at this store, so the bundle also saves $24.09 outright, besides sitting $228.89 under the $686.67 combined list.

Will the drum really still be healthy after two cartridges?

That is what its rating promises: 30,000 pages of clean imaging, and two TN880 cartridges total 24,000. Drum wear shows itself gradually — faint repeating marks, a gray cast that a new cartridge does not shift — and on this platform those signs typically arrive near the rating rather than far ahead of it. When the second cartridge is in and pages still look tired, the drum counter reading will tell you where you stand. It is also worth remembering the machine accepts the cartridge and drum independently, so replacements can always be staggered later.

Which machines is this size intended for?

The departmental mono range built around the TN880: HL-L6200DW, HL-L6200DWT, HL-L6250 DN, HL-L6250DW, HL-L6300DW, HL-L6400DW and HL-L6400DWT printers, plus the MFC-L6700DW, MFC-L6750DW and MFC-L6800DW multifunction models. This bundle size assumes one busy machine rather than a fleet — all three pieces serve a single printer — and suits teams whose monthly volume makes even a 12,000-page cartridge a matter of weeks rather than months.

How should a cartridge this size be stored and handled?

The spare TN880 is a substantial cartridge; keep it sealed, flat and level in a cool, dry place, and lift it with both hands when its turn comes. Before fitting, rock it gently end to end to level the powder load. The drum wants the usual care: packaging stays on until fitting, the green surface stays untouched and out of strong light, and the drum counter gets reset from the menu once the new DR820 is in. Nothing else about the swap differs from the platform's routine cartridge change.

What are the return terms on a three-piece genuine bundle?

Thirty days from delivery to return, in all cases, on every genuine Brother item in the box, with Brother's manufacturer warranty covering the parts beyond that window. If a single piece disappoints, raise that piece with support — staffed Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST — and it is dealt with on its own merits. The policy in full is on our returns and shipping information page.
