Frequently Asked Questions

What does MICR mean on this 113R00657?

MICR stands for Magnetic Ink Character Recognition. This version of the 113R00657 is filled with magnetic toner, so the routing and account line printed along the bottom of a check can be read by bank scanning equipment. It is the cartridge to choose when your Phaser 4500-series printer's job is printing checks rather than ordinary documents.

Can I print my business checks with it?

That is exactly what it is made for: load check stock, print your checks as usual, and the magnetic toner lays down the machine-readable line. Before a full production run, print a small test batch and have your bank scan it — reader setups vary, and a short test is the sensible way to confirm clean reads with your bank's equipment before you commit a whole box of check stock.

Does the MICR version cost more than the regular cartridge?

Not on this listing. The MICR single is $90.63 — the same price as the standard 113R00657 — and it carries the same rating of up to 18,000 pages. You are choosing the fill your work needs, not paying a premium for the specialty version.

Will it print normal documents too?

Yes — it lays down ordinary black text, so reports and letters come out looking like any other print job. Most check printers still keep the MICR cartridge dedicated to check stock, simply so the magnetic fill is always in the machine when a check run starts.

Which printers take the MICR cartridge?

It is built on the same 113R00657 shell, so it fits the Phaser 4500, Phaser 4500b, Phaser 4500dt and Phaser 4500dx. Any of those machines can become the office check printer with this cartridge in place.

What if the cartridge underperforms?

It is covered like everything else we sell: a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns, spelled out on our shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST if a cartridge misbehaves or a run comes out light.
