Frequently Asked Questions
Our brand red has started printing orange. Can a toner cartridge really be behind that?
Yes, and it is one of the most reliable symptoms in color printing. A laser printer builds red out of just two toners — magenta and yellow in roughly equal shares. As the magenta cartridge thins out, its share of the mix shrinks, yellow takes over, and red slides through rust into plain orange. You will usually see the same drift in the rest of the warm palette: purples lean blue, and skin tones in photos turn sallow. When reds go warm while your blues stay honest, magenta is the cartridge to suspect — and on a Phaser 6350, the high-yield magenta is this one, the 106R01145.
We print mostly black text. Why would the magenta be the first cartridge to run dry?
Because "mostly black" work is never purely black. Letterheads carry a color logo, spreadsheets carry charts, gray shading is mixed from all three colors rather than taken from the black cartridge alone, and the printer spends small amounts of every toner on its calibration cycles whether you asked for color or not. Of the three, magenta gets sipped hardest in a typical office: warm colors dominate business graphics, and every red, orange, pink and skin tone in the building draws on it. That slow, invisible drain is exactly what a 10,000-page high-yield unit is built to absorb.
There is another magenta cartridge on our shelf with a different number on it. Will the printer accept either?
No — treat the number as exact, because it is. A cartridge code packs the color, the yield class and the machine family into one string, and 106R01145 specifies the high-yield magenta for the 6350 line, covering the Phaser 6350DP and the Phaser 6350DT alongside the base model. A different number means a different cartridge — another yield class or another family — even when the boxes look alike on the shelf. The safe habit is the simple one: read the code off the unit you pulled out, and order that code.
What should I expect from the first pages after this cartridge goes in?
A short, uneventful settling-in. Seat the unit until it clicks home, close the printer up, and let it run its automatic calibration; then print a test page and look at the solid fields. Healthy output shows a deep, even magenta band with no pale streaks, and your brand red should be red again rather than orange. If the first sheet or two looks slightly uneven, that is the new toner working its way through — by the second or third page the color should sit flat and stay there. No tools, no settings to adjust, nothing to configure.
Ten thousand pages sounds generous — we print full-page photos. How does the rating hold up for us?
The rating assumes an average page carries toner over about 5% of its area: text, a logo, a chart. A full-page photograph can carry ten times that, and photo work leans on magenta more than any other color, so a photo-heavy department will land well under 10,000 pages from any cartridge, this one included. Run the arithmetic both ways before judging it: at $52.97, the rated page costs roughly 0.53 cents, and even if heavy coverage halves your real page count, the cartridge still delivers its pages at a fraction of what smaller, standard-yield units charge per sheet. The rating is the yardstick; your coverage decides the calendar.
The new cartridge is in and the reds are still orange. What happens now?
Start with a person, not a returns label. Our support desk is staffed Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and can walk through whether the fault sits with the cartridge or somewhere in the printer. If the unit itself is the problem, it is covered plainly: a one-year warranty stands behind it and returns are free for that whole first year. Orders leave from our warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and the complete terms are set out on our shipping and returns page.
About This 106R01145 High Yield Magenta Toner Cartridge
Sold by its number, this listing is the Clever Supplies compatible magenta that replaces the Xerox 106R01145: a single high-yield cartridge rated at 10,000 pages and priced at $52.97, about 0.53 cents per rated page. Magenta is the warm half of everything this printer makes — half of every red, the soul of every skin tone, the difference between a violet and a blue — and in most offices it is the color cartridge that quietly empties first. Sizing it at 10,000 pages turns that recurring interruption into a rare one. Pull the empty unit, match the code, and this is the cartridge that goes back in.
