Frequently Asked Questions

What does the five-pack do to the ML-3710's cost per page?

It cuts it from about 0.78 cents to roughly 0.48 cents a page. The mechanism is simple: the five MLT-D205L cartridges in this pack cost $121.13 together — an effective $24.23 each — against $39.02 apiece bought singly. Every one of the pack's 25,000 pages therefore carries about forty percent less toner cost.

How long does a 25,000-page supply last an ML-3710?

That is a volume question. A department at 2,500 pages a month is looking at ten months of printing from one box; a heavier floor at 5,000 a month, about five months. The ML-3710 is a fast machine that can rack up pages quickly, which is exactly why its owners tend to buy in this quantity.

Can this pack supply a different Samsung printer as well?

Yes — the cartridges are the standard MLT-D205L, shared by the ML-3710D, ML-3710DW and ML-3710ND, the ML-3712DW and ML-3712ND, the SCX-5639FR, and the ML-3310, ML-3312, SCX-4833 and SCX-4835 families. One pack can act as the toner shelf for several models at once.

When is the single cartridge the smarter buy instead?

When the ML-3710 prints lightly or its future is uncertain. If a cartridge lasts you the better part of a year, the pack's saving — $73.97 against five singles — arrives very slowly, and $121.13 sits on the shelf meanwhile. The pack is the smarter buy when cartridges turn over in a few months, or when the printer absolutely must never stand empty.

What happens if one cartridge in the pack is faulty?

That cartridge alone is returned under its one-year warranty, free of charge within its year of free returns — the other four stay in the ML-3710 and keep working while the faulty unit is dealt with. The shipping and returns page explains how returns work.

How should the pack be stored between changes?

Keep the cartridges sealed in their packaging, flat and in a cool, dry place. Avoid leaning them against heat sources or leaving them in strong light. Stored that way, the fifth cartridge will be in the same condition as the first when its turn comes, months down the line.
