Xpress M2070
Frequently Asked Questions
The Xpress M2070 came with a toner cartridge in the box. How soon will I need a replacement?
The in-box cartridge is a reduced-fill starter, so it empties noticeably sooner than a full retail MLT-D111S. On the Xpress M2070, a mono all-in-one, the first replacement is when running costs normalize — the retail cartridge carries the full standard fill. If the starter seems to die quickly on dense documents, that is expected: starter yields assume light 5%-coverage pages.
Prints from my Xpress M2070 are coming out light gray instead of black. What is wrong?
Light prints on the Xpress M2070 are usually toner-save mode left on or a cartridge running low, not a broken printer. Turn off economy mode in the driver, then remove the MLT-D111S, rock it gently side to side to redistribute the remaining powder, and reseat it. If full-density prints are still gray afterward, the cartridge is genuinely spent — or, less commonly, the drum inside the all-in-one cartridge is worn.
Does photocopying on the Xpress M2070 use more toner than printing?
A copy uses about the same toner as printing the equivalent page, but the Xpress M2070 copies at full density with no draft mode, so copy-heavy use empties the MLT-D111S faster than careful printing. For text originals, lower the copy density a notch — output stays readable while toner use drops noticeably. Also keep the scanner glass clean, since smudges force the printer to lay down extra toner reproducing them.
