Xpress M2021W

Frequently Asked Questions

The Xpress M2021W came with a toner cartridge in the box. How soon will I need a replacement?

The in-box cartridge is a reduced-fill starter, so it empties noticeably sooner than a full retail MLT-D111S. On the Xpress M2021W, a entry-level wireless mono printer, the first replacement is when running costs normalize — the retail cartridge carries the full standard fill. If the starter seems to die quickly on dense documents, that is expected: starter yields assume light 5%-coverage pages.

Prints from my Xpress M2021W are coming out light gray instead of black. What is wrong?

Light prints on the Xpress M2021W are usually toner-save mode left on or a cartridge running low, not a broken printer. Turn off economy mode in the driver, then remove the MLT-D111S, rock it gently side to side to redistribute the remaining powder, and reseat it. If full-density prints are still gray afterward, the cartridge is genuinely spent — or, less commonly, the drum inside the all-in-one cartridge is worn.

My Xpress M2021W prints have a vertical white streak. Is the cartridge finished?

A single white streak usually means toner is low or unevenly distributed in the MLT-D111S — remove it from the Xpress M2021W and rock it gently side to side, which often clears the streak for a while. If the streak persists in the same spot after redistributing, the drum surface inside the cartridge may be scratched and replacement is the fix. Streaks that appear only on copies, not prints, point to a dirty scanner glass instead.
