Frequently Asked Questions
The Xpress C416FW takes four cartridges. Do they all run out together?
They do not. The Xpress C416FW is a faster color all-in-one with fax and wireless with independent CMYK channels — CLT-K406S black plus CLT-C406S cyan, CLT-M406S magenta and CLT-Y406S yellow — and each cartridge is monitored on its own. Text-heavy printing drains black first; brochures, slides and photos pull the three colors down together. Replace cartridges individually as the printer flags them, and only buy the full four-pack when several are low at once.
Colors from my Xpress C416FW print pale and streaky. Is the toner bad?
Pale output usually means a driver setting or a cartridge that needs redistributing, not dead toner. Confirm toner-save mode is off, then remove the streaking color cartridge from the Xpress C416FW, rock it gently side to side, and reseat it. If one color — say magenta — streaks while the others are clean, that CLT-M406S cartridge is the suspect; if every color is pale, look at the transfer belt or imaging unit instead.
One color prints with thin white lines on my Xpress C416FW. Which cartridge is at fault?
Thin white lines in a single color point to that color cartridge — if the lines are cyan, the CLT-C406S is the suspect. Remove it from the Xpress C416FW, rock it gently to redistribute toner, and check for a damaged roller or leaked powder. Lines across all colors at once implicate the transfer belt or drum rather than any one cartridge.
