Four — one each of TN-312C, TN-312M, TN-312Y, and TN-312K. Each slot is color-keyed, so cartridges cannot be installed in the wrong position.
Can the BizHub C300 print if I only have the black TN-312K installed?
No, the C300 needs all four TN-312 cartridges present to operate the print engine. A missing color cartridge blocks even black-only jobs.
Why does the BizHub C300's black run out so much faster than the colors?
Black toner does double duty on text and on the black separation of every color page, so TN-312K naturally depletes first in office use. Stock black more heavily than the colors.
