Only if you print more pages. Per-page toner use is the same; the c287's speed just means you can exhaust a cartridge in fewer hours of heavy use. Higher-volume offices should watch levels weekly rather than monthly.
Does the c287 need all four TN-221 colors installed even if I only print black and white?
Yes - the machine expects TN-221K, TN-221C, TN-221M and TN-221Y all present and recognized. You can print monochrome for months on one black cartridge while the colors sit nearly full, but removing a color cartridge will trigger an error.
