Frequently Asked Questions

What is the second cartridge in this 2-pack actually buying me?

Uninterrupted printing. The first 106R01281 goes in the printer today; the second waits on the shelf so the next empty is a two-minute swap instead of a wait for a delivery. For a Phaser 6130 that other people rely on, that spare is the difference between a non-event and a stalled morning.

What does the maths look like against buying two singles?

Two single cartridges would cost $65.58; this pack is $47.07, so you save $18.51. That brings each cartridge down to $23.54, and across the 5,000 pages the pair delivers, black printing works out at about 0.94 cents per page. The cartridges are the standard 106R01281 units, each rated at 2,500 pages — nothing about them changes inside a pack.

What should I do the day the spare goes into the printer?

Order the next one. The discipline that makes a 2-pack work is treating the spare as the reorder signal: shelf full means relax, shelf empty because the spare just went in means the replacement order goes out the same day. That way the cupboard never reaches the state where the printer is empty and the next cartridge is still in a courier's van.

How much printing does the pair cover in total?

5,000 pages of black — 2,500 from each cartridge. For a small office printing a few hundred pages a month, that is the better part of a year covered by one order; for a home office it can stretch well beyond that. It is a deliberately modest stock: enough to remove the scramble, not so much that cartridges gather dust.

Will the spare cartridge suffer from sitting in its box?

Not under ordinary conditions. Toner cartridges are sealed units and keep well in a cool, dry cupboard away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Keep the spare in its packaging until the day it is fitted, and avoid anywhere damp or where temperatures swing widely, like a garage or a spot above a radiator.

What warranty and returns apply to the 2-pack?

Both cartridges carry a one-year warranty and free returns for a year, with the details on our shipping and returns page. We ship from warehouses in IL, PA, GA and CA, and support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM–5 PM CST. See the rest of this family's range on the Xerox toner page.
