Frequently Asked Questions

• How many pages does the HP 4K0T0LN print?

HP rates the 4K0T0LN at about 400 pages under ISO/IEC 24711 test conditions, printing standard pages at around 5% coverage. Your own count will move with coverage, paper and settings — dense colour pages use far more ink than plain text.

• Which printers take the 4K0T0LN?

It fits OfficeJet Pro 8125, OfficeJet Pro 8135, OfficeJet Pro 8139. The complete verified list is in the Compatible Printers section on this page — check your model there before ordering.

• What does the 'e' in 923e mean?

The 923e is HP's EvoMore line — the same fit with more ink and a higher page yield than the standard 923. EvoMore cartridges are sold for the 8100e/9100e e-series generation and, in base (non-e) form, the OfficeJet Pro 8125, OfficeJet Pro 8135 and OfficeJet Pro 8139 covered here.

• Standard or XL — which should I buy?

This is the standard-yield cartridge, rated at about 400 pages. If you print every week, the XL version of the same colour works out cheaper per page; for a lightly used printer, this size avoids ink sitting unused.

• Is the 4K0T0LN pigment or dye ink?

It is pigment ink — the same ink technology HP uses in the original 4K0T0LN — so text stays sharp and resists water and highlighter smear.

• Is there a chip on this cartridge?

Yes — a new compatible chip that reports ink levels to the printer, so the low-ink warnings keep working. It is not a refilled original shell with a reset chip.

• The printer is showing a warning after I installed it — what now?

Acknowledge the on-screen message, reseat the cartridge until it clicks, and restart the printer. If the warning persists, wipe the gold chip contacts with a dry lint-free cloth and reinstall. This family runs HP dynamic security: the printer checks the cartridge chip, and HP firmware updates can change what is accepted. Our cartridges carry a new compatible chip built for these models; if a future HP firmware update ever blocks a cartridge, the lifetime warranty covers you — contact us and we will put it right.

• Will this work if my printer uses HP+?

if your printer was set up with HP+, it accepts original HP cartridges only — that lock is part of the HP+ program and applies to every non-original cartridge, ours included. On printers that are not HP+-locked, these cartridges install and print as normal.

• Will this fit the OfficeJet Pro 8130e or 9120e series?

Those e-series variants (the 8100e/9100e generation with HP+) are not covered by this listing — this family page covers the base models named in the Compatible Printers list.

• Can I run this alongside original HP cartridges?

Yes. Each slot is read independently, so a compatible black alongside original colours (or the other way round) prints normally.

• Is this a genuine HP cartridge?

No. It is a Clever Supplies compatible cartridge built to the 4K0T0LN specification and covered by our lifetime warranty. It is not manufactured by HP; the HP name appears only to identify the printers it fits.

• What happens if it leaks or the printer will not recognise it?

Stop and contact us — do not keep printing on a faulty cartridge. The lifetime warranty covers recognition failures, leaks and print-quality defects: we replace the cartridge or refund you.
