Frequently Asked Questions

Who is a 5 pack of a 20,000-page cartridge actually for?

For offices where the printer's monthly count is measured in tens of thousands of pages, or where several machines draw on one supply shelf. Five Canon 041H cartridges (code 041HBk) at 20,000 pages each total 100,000 pages. A single hard-worked imageCLASS machine at 8,000 pages a month takes about a year to use them; a small fleet sharing the same cartridge goes through them considerably faster. If your volume is a few hundred pages a month, this pack is honestly more toner than you need — the smaller packs exist for you.

What does the cost per page come down to at this size?

About 0.20 cents per page — $202.19 spread across 100,000 pages. That is a fifth of a cent: a 500-page document set carries roughly a dollar of toner cost. Stepped against the rest of the family, the single cartridge runs about 0.28 cents per page and the 3 pack about 0.21, so this pack is where the running cost effectively bottoms out for most buyers; the 10 pack shaves it only slightly further, to about 0.19.

What is the saving against buying five cartridges one at a time?

Five singles at $55.23 would total $276.15. This pack is $202.19, so the saving is $73.96, and the per-cartridge price falls from $55.23 to $40.44 — a drop of nearly $15 on every cartridge. For an office that already knows it will use five cartridges, that is the plain case for the pack: identical cartridges, identical code 041HBk, identical backing, bought the cheaper way.

Five pack or 10 pack — how should a facilities buyer decide?

By the consumption calendar, not the discount. The 10 pack drops the per-cartridge price to $38.59, a further $1.85 per cartridge beyond this pack. If your machines will burn through ten cartridges inside your normal planning horizon, that saving is real and worth taking. If ten would mean the last boxes sit for years, the 5 pack's slightly higher per-cartridge price is the cheaper decision in practice, because toner money should follow printing you will actually do.

How much storage does a 5 pack need, and how should it be kept?

Five cartridge boxes are a modest shelf allocation, but they deserve a proper spot: sealed in their bags, flat, in a cool dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Rotate oldest-first and mark arrival months on the boxes — with stock turning over this slowly, the person installing cartridge four may have no idea when it arrived. Kept that way, the fifth cartridge performs like the first when its turn comes.

What cover applies across the pack?

Every cartridge carries our 1-year warranty against defects and 1-year free returns if it does not perform as it should — the protection is per cartridge, not reduced because you bought in bulk. Full terms are on our shipping and returns page. Support is available Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and the pack ships from whichever of our warehouses in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia or California is nearest to you.
