Frequently Asked Questions

What should you realistically expect from this cyan on a business flagship?

Clean, consistent business color: charts that read correctly, logos in the right blue, documents that look deliberate. The MFC-L8850 is an office color machine, not a photo printer — judged on that standard, a healthy TN331 cyan delivers exactly the crisp, even coverage business output needs, at a rated 1,500 pages.

Does it fit the MFC-L8850?

It is the TN331C cyan for this family of machines: HL-L8250CDN, HL-L8350CDW, HL-L8350CDWT and MFC-L8600CDW. Confirm the TN331C code on the cartridge you are replacing.

Why does one weak color spoil an otherwise good print?

Because the printer builds every color from these four toners. A cyan running low does not just weaken blues — it shifts greens, grays and skin tones across the whole page. That is why color quality complaints on this platform so often trace back to a single cartridge, and why replacing only the weak color — each TN331 cartridge is independent — restores the balance.

What does cyan cost per page here?

$32.86 for a rated 1,500 pages, about 2.19 cents per page at standard coverage. Full-color pages draw more; documents with color accents draw less. The black in this family runs at about 1.25 cents per page, which is why routing drafts to mono keeps the color budget for finished documents.

Would TN336 cyan give better quality, or just more of it?

Just more of it — 3,500 rated pages instead of 1,500, at the same business-color standard. The choice between TN331 and TN336 is about change frequency and unit price, not about a quality tier.

If a fresh cyan does not fix the color, what then?

Run the machine's calibration and cleaning routines, and check the other colors and the drum. If the cartridge itself is at fault, it is covered by a 1-year warranty and 1-year free returns under the shipping & returns policy; support (9 AM–5 PM CST) can help narrow it down. Orders ship from IL, PA, GA and CA.
