Frequently Asked Questions
Why does this cartridge's code end in BK — what does the suffix tell you?
It is Brother's colour tag: TN620BK is the black cartridge of the TN620 family, the code you check when ordering so there is no ambiguity about what is in the box. On this monochrome platform black is the only colour the machines print, but the full code still matters — the high-yield sibling carries its own code, TN650BK, and matching the complete string on the cartridge you remove is the surest way to reorder the same fill.
TN620BK or TN650BK for an HL-5370DW — how should I choose?
By volume. Both cartridges serve the identical fifteen models on this platform. The TN620BK is the standard fill: 3,000 pages at $118.75. The TN650BK is the high-yield: 8,000 pages at $173.87. That makes this cartridge the cheaper ticket and the dearer page — about 4.0 cents against 2.2. A printer doing a few hundred pages a month can stay standard for years; one doing thousands should step up.
What does the standard fill cost per page, without the gloss?
$118.75 divided by the 3,000-page rating comes to a shade under 4 cents a page. For genuine Brother toner in a workgroup machine that is not unreasonable, but it is roughly double the high-yield's rate, and over tens of thousands of pages the gap becomes serious money. You are also paying well under the $166.25 list price — the discount is real; it just does not change the per-page ranking inside the family.
How long does 3,000 pages last a branch office?
At 150 pages a week — correspondence, invoices, the odd report — about five months. At 500 a week, six weeks, at which point the swaps themselves become the nuisance and the high-yield fill earns its premium. The TN620BK's natural home is the quieter end of this platform: satellite offices, reception printers and backup machines that print steadily but lightly.
What happens if I order the wrong cartridge?
Send it back within 30 days of delivery — our returns terms apply in all cases and are written out on the shipping and returns page. The TN620BK also carries Brother's manufacturer warranty as genuine stock. We hold inventory in Illinois, Pennsylvania, Georgia and California, and the support desk is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST if you want a hand checking codes before you order.
